The rec. trail board would like to thank the following organizations, businesses and individuals for their contributions to the South Tama Recreation Trail.

South Tama Recreation Trail Board of Directors - All members of the Board and have generously donated their time and other resources to trail development. Members Larry Eisentrager, Kenny Bacon and Harlan Dirks have contributed substantial time and labor as well as resources from Twin Cities Construction and Arrowhead Mobile Home Park. |

City of Tama – Tama has agreed to be the project’s fiscal administrator and assist with grant administration. In April 2003 the city also graciously voted to provide up to $20,000 of economic development funds for trail construction in 2003. Tama then extended funding with an additional $4,000 plus a truck and driver to help complete segment 2a along the Country Club in Tama and up to an additional $20,000 was provided in 2009 for trail extensions SW of downtown Tama. Both Tama and Toledo are continuing to work with the project to evaluate trail extension alternatives. |

|
City of Toledo – Toledo purchased a 1-mile portion (including some property within the City of Tama) of abandoned railroad bed in the mid-1980’s and the city has designated it for trail development. The city has also provided use of their equipment and crews (most recently 2 trucks and drivers for assistance with segment 2a in Tama) for past and future construction needs. Council members Dan Ferris and Donna Princehouse provided coordination and extra guidance/assistance with extensions of the trail in Toledo. |

South Tama County (STC) Community School District – In 2003 and 2004 the STC administration and School Board agreed to designate up to 1/2 mile of their undeveloped property for trail use. |
|
|
Toledo Community Development, Inc. (Toledo) - Generously donated funds to help the project deal with a higher than expected bids for construction in 2008 and 2009. |
|
|
Dolezal Feed (Toledo) – Provided right-of-way between US Highway 30 and Ross St. for construction of an important trail extension there. |
|
|
Dirks Real Estate and Arrowhead Mobile Home Park (Toledo) - Provided right-of-way between the new and old US Highway 30 corridors for construction of an important trail extension there. |
|
|
Downs Dozing (Tama) - Donated labor and equipment for preparation and construction of project segment 2a in Tama. |
|
|
Poweshiek County Water Association (PCWA) - The PCWA has donated sections of pipe and culvert that are being used to control drainage along the initial trail segments. |
|
|
Tama County Board of Realtors – The Board of Realtors recently made a monetary contribution of $2400 to the project. |
|
|
Independent Insurance Services, Toledo – IIS is leading the way for local businesses by contributing $1000 toward the project. |
|
|
Clapsaddle-Garber Associates, Marshalltown - CGA engineers Rob Garber and Chris Poole have graciously given their time to assist with the project. Project engineer and manager Mindy Bryngelson helped shape the design and construction of the trail extension from new US 30 to Ross St. in Toledo. |
|
|
IMT Insurance – The project won a $500 “Community Contest” award from IMT in July 2003. |
|
|
Alliant Energy - Alliant and its local representative, Ken Vinson, are active partners in the development of the South Tama Recreation Trail. |
|
|
Dostal Construction and Kupka Towing – Contributed time and resources to the trail construction effort. |
|
|
Manatt’s Inc. and Wendling Quarries - Provided material and equipment for the trail surface. |
|
|
Home Federal Savings Bank (Toledo) - Donated a park bench which has been installed near the 1/2-mile mark of the original trail segment. |
|
|
Farm Service (Toledo) - Donated herbicides for treatment of weeds on and along the trail. Special thanks go to Kenny McAdoo. |
|
|
Whitetails Forever - Has made generous cash donations to the trail effort. |
|
|
Tama County Community Foundation - In its first two years the TCCF awarded grants to the trail project. TCCF funds were used to construct the spur linking the trail to the new STC Elementary and will be used to add safety features to the trail. |
|
|
Appraisal & Real Estate Services of Iowa - Provided appraisals to the project at no-cost as in-kind contributions. |
|
|
Kenkel Law Office - Through his law practice and personal service, Steve Kenkel has contributed significantly to the project. |
|
|
Hrabak Lumber (Toledo) - Donated lumber and materials for trail-side fixtures. |
|
|
Cub Scout Pack 391 and Boy Scout Troop 391 - The Pack and Troop have both participated in trail cleanup efforts. In the Fall of 2008 Eagle candidate Tyler Schuur organized a tremendous clean-up effort with assistance from fellow Boy Scouts and involved citizens from the Tama/Toledo area. |

State Bank of Toledo (Toledo) - Donated a bench (plus funds to offset installation costs) to be installed near the intersection of Deer Creek and Ross St. in Toledo. |
|
|
Scharnweber Water Conditioning - Owner, Tom Scharnweber (and others), have donated their time and equipment to help with numerous trail maintenance activities including placement of bat houses and bollards along the trail. |
|
|
Walter Willet - The estate of the late Walter Willet made a generous cash donation to the trail project in 2011. |
|
|
Mansfield Foundation - In 2010 the Mansfield Foundation contributed substantial funding to help extend and maintain the trail. |
|
|
